New OPPO A16, released as a budget option

Oppo has released the successor to Oppo A15, for the budget smartphone market. The Oppo A16 succeeds Oppo A15 which was released last year. The phone is already available for offline purchase through retail stores and also goes on sale on the e-commerce website, Amazon on Monday.

The phone is priced at Rs 13,990 for the model with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, and the phone comes in  Crystal Black and Pearl Blue colour options

Oppo A16 runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1 on top. It gets a 6.52-inch HD+ (720x1,600 pixels) LCD display with 60Hz refresh rate, 60Hz touch sampling rate, 269ppi pixel density, and 480 nits peak brightness, also supporting Eye Care mode. It has an 88.7 per cent screen-to-body ratio and a 1,500:1 contrast ratio. 

 

The dual-sim phone comes with MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, under the hood that is paired with the IMG GE8320 GPU, 3GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage that is expandable via microSD card. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage - expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The phone has a triple camera setup, with a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.2 lens, a 2-megapixel bokeh (depth) sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor with an f/2.4 lens. In the front, it sports an 8-megapixel primary selfie camera with an f/2.0 lens for selfies and video calls.

In terms of connectivity, the phone includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port, and has dual sim support. The phone packs a 5000 mAh battery with a Smart battery protection feature, which aims to increase the life expectancy of the battery.

Oppo A16 comes with a geomagnetic sensor, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, and gravity sensor. It also includes a face unlock feature and also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also comes with IPX4 certification for splash resistance. The smartphone measures 163.8x75.6x8.4mm and weighs 190 grams.
